SUN SETS ON OUR MISSION

Hard to believe it is all over. We have seen some gorgeous sunsets over the last eighteen months here in Saipan. As the sun sets on our mission experience here in the Pacific we will share some of them on the blog.

  1. Hafa Adai......we have never met, but we have shared similar experiences with the setting Saipan sun. My name is Hermann Arp Jr. In 1984, my family moved to Saipan. Back then, the front building which runs parallel with the main road....was the only LDS church building. My parents were contract teachers, but almost a month into our move to Saipan, we were still, moving from hotel to hotel to motel and almost out on the street....and we almost moved back to Hawaii...when the district president came from Guam and found my father sitting in contemplation under the great mango tree....now in the courtyard of the chapel grounds.....to make a long story short..my father Frederick Hermann Arp, was called as Branch President. From 1984 to 1990 we watched the branch grow from strength to strength. A few months before we watched our last Saipan sunset, the chapel buildings now currently in use....were built and completed. I stumbled on to your blog as I was searching for pictures of the great Saipan branch. Thank you for all the great work that you both have done. May your memories of Saipan be long and great. May the service you have rendered forever be inspiring to all who enter the hallowed halls of the great Saipan Branch.
